March 22, 2008 - Vicksburg, MS

Mike and I have traveled over to Vicksburg, MS. Vicksburg is right on the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers. The city sits high on bluffs and has a lot of history in the Civil War. We got here yesterday afternoon and got everything set up, had dinner and were getting ready to watch TV when the TV blew up. I don't know what happened, but in minutes the whole camper was full of electrical smelling smoke. Fortunately, we were able to open the windows and turn on the fans and get the smell out of here in no time. It seems like we are having a lot of things happen to us on this trip, but it has in no way dimished the fun we are having. Mike has mentioned having a flat screen TV in here and I guess now we will get one.

Today, Saturday, we got out and did some sightseeing. First, I had Mike take me to a quilt shop and it was such a neat place that I sent him over to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items and to look at TVs. I must have been in the quilt shop over two hours. The owner had some of the prettiest fabrics I have ever seen. She and I talked for a long time and she told me that she does most of her business on the internet. I really enjoyed my visit.

When Mike picked me up, we went on the auto tour of the downtown and made several stops to see the Mississippi River and some of the casinos as well as the old historic homes. We really enjoyed seeing the art work on the flood wall. I have pictures that I am posting. I hope you will enjoy them.

Tomorrow we are traveling to Shreveport, LA which is on the western line of LA. We are going to Lake Whitney, TX on Monday where our old friends from Indiana live now.
