Pics from Santa Fe - April 3, 2008

This set of pictures include some taken on our way from Amarillo to Santa Fe. Notice the windmills. Others are pictures that we took from the Santa Fe Skies RV park and from our trip to downtown Santa Fe. The RV park sits on a hillside overlooking Santa Fe's southern suburbs and you can see the mountains off in the distance. Most all the architecture we saw today was the pueblo style including chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Outback and their schools, hospitals and government buildings. The downtown area includes a section that is considered "Old Santa Fe" and there the local artisans set out their wares along the sidewalk. The newer parts of town house many art galleries and jewelry shops promoting local artists. We saw some really beautiful pieces of art including bronze sculptures that are larger than life. There is tons of turquoise jewelry and even turquoise used in pottery. I am always curious about what the housing market is like in areas we visit. I found one of the Homes magazines in town and was shocked at the prices here. From what I saw, the average price must be around $500k. There very many over a million. I guess Mike and I won't be moving here!! Enjoy the pictures - especially the one of me with the pig.
